Meet the Candidates

Bill Fletcher is a dedicated pillar of the USD 232 educational community. With over 16 years on the School Board, his deep-rooted connection to the district is evident: his children and grandchildren are De Soto alumni and students, and one daughter currently teaches in the district. A business alumnus from Kansas State University and retired business owner, Fletcher understands the nexus of education and community needs. He champions open dialogue with parents and staff, emphasizing teacher compensation and special education.

A longtime resident of western Shawnee, Ashley’s personal and familial connection to De Soto schools anchors her passion for ensuring quality education. Over the past 12 years, her involvement has spanned from key roles in multiple school site councils to pivotal committees focused on diversity, equity, and real-world learning. Ashley’s priorities, such as championing student well-being, enhancing safety measures, planning strategically for district growth, and boosting special education funding, underline her holistic approach to education.

Stephanie’s first term witnessed commendable achievements, such as hiring a new superintendent, successfully navigating pandemic challenges, launching the Cedar Trails Exploration Center, and overseeing substantial bond issue completions. With her keen insight into the district’s evolving needs, she played a pivotal role in welcoming Panasonic Energy to the community and the district’s recognition for excelling in key educational outcomes.

Dr. Nguyen is a distinguished graduate from KU Medical Center. Anh transitioned from a post-doctoral fellowship to academia, fostering her passion for teaching at Avila and Rockhurst University. Her proactive involvement in local education—from PTA and PTO roles to substitute teaching—underscores her hands-on commitment. Anh champions a vision prioritizing student success, teacher support, staff development, and community engagement.
